Following a group of dedicated teachers, Abbott Elementary presents a refreshing view of the American public school system and its students. It creates a lighthearted atmosphere, by balancing comedy and real social issues that need more addressing and awareness. The series delves into themes like poor education and funding, corrupt administration and racial inequality, raising awareness for the importance of progressive elementary schools with a curriculum on black and african history in black communities.
Furthermore, its diverse cast is incredibly special, as every character brings something unique to the table, quickly becoming beloved characters of the audience. Created by and starring Quinta Brunson as Janine, the audience is always kept interested with dramatic plot moments and elements of surprise. The show even released a crossover episode with the show ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’.
Abbott Elementary deserves a spot on your watchlist, and serves as a reminder that educators are due more respect as they are the backbone of our society.
