Ne Zha Part 1

This Chinese animation features the popular Chinese mythological character Ne Zha and the plot is  loosely based on the 16th-century novel written by an author named Xu Zhonglin. Ne Zha Part 1 is also known for its spectacular animation and well-choreographed action sequences, making it a visually engaging experience for audiences.

The plot of the movie

In the film, a young boy, Ne Zha, is born from a heavenly pearl by the Primeval Lord of Heaven. Born with unique powers, he finds himself as an outcast who is hated and feared. Destined by a prophecy to bring destruction to the world, the young boy must choose between good and evil in order to break the shackles of fate and become the hero. While there are moments of sadness and struggle, the movie’s overall tone is one of hope and resilience, with Ne Zha ultimately embracing his true potential.

What you can learnt and reflect on from the movie

Filled with humorous characters and touching scenes, this movie teaches about self-determination, defying fate, and the importance of fighting for what you believe in, even when facing prejudice and societal expectations. There are many values that I had learnt in this one movie and they truly resonate within me. This movie also emphasizes the power of choice and fighting for what is right.

In addition, most recently, a Part 2 of the Ne Zha movie has been released in Singapore theatres and I thoroughly encourage everyone to watch it! I had heard that there were even audiences crying just from watching Part 2 of Ne Zha!
