Book Review about The War I Finally Won by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley
Rating: ★★★★
"The War I Finally Won" is a powerful and poignant sequel to "The War That Saved My Life," which takes place during World War II. In this book, Ada, the protagonist’s, life changes dramatically after she undergoes surgery to fix her clubfoot, a condition that has been affecting her for her whole life.
The author portrays Ada's journey towards success, as she navigates the challenges in life, overcoming them through her hard work and resilience. Throughout the novel, Ada learns to love and trust those around her, which in the end enables her to overcome these challenges
The author vividly portrays each character, allowing readers to clearly visualize what was occurring in the story. Each important moment in the book with the other characters, especially her brother Jamie and Susan, are vividly written, allowing us to have a deep understanding of each character. All these characters are important parts of Ada’s self development throughout the story.
However, one negative aspect of the story is the slow pacing of the story. At some parts of the story, the slow pacing helped readers to further understand the character’s emotions and thoughts. However, the slow pacing would also make the emotional impact of the story more boring for the readers, making the story less compelling to them.
What sets "The War I Finally Won" apart is its description of the relationships between characters and the unique setting. In the story, the author vividly describes the small but important moments that slowly help to build trust between the different characters. This helps the readers to further understand the value of the relationships between Ada and the different characters. The setting of the story is in England during World War II. The author vividly describes the impacts of the war on the people as well as how life was during the war. This would provide a refreshing read for many readers as they may not have read any stories in this unique setting before.
This book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys historical fiction, particularly those interested in World War II. It’s also a touching and insightful read for readers, teaching important lessons about overcoming challenges. Hope this article has given you a better understanding of the book “The War I Finally Won” by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley.
