Alan Rickman

Alan Rickman, or perhaps better known for his role as Professor Snape, was a famous actor and director who recently passed away on the 14 January 2016. His death came as a shock to many Harry Potter fans as he had hidden his illness from the public and it was only made known to several of his close relatives.

Even though I wasn’t an avid fan of Harry Potter, I’ve watched a few of the films and I must say that Professor Snape was indeed one of the few characters that had left a great impression on me. I remembered watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows a few years back and there was a particular scene where Professor Snape had died and passed on his memories to Harry. That was one of the many scenes where he had really portrayed his character and the passion that he possessed really showed through his acting. He wasn’t only a man of passion but he was also a man known for having a good reputation among his fellow co-stars.

Daniel Radcliffe wrote in his blog “Alan Rickman is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with. He is also, one of the most loyal and supportive people I’ve ever met in the film industry. He was so encouraging of me both on set and in the years post-Potter.”

Many others also paid tribute to him including Harry Potter fans who even held a mini event at Universal Studios where they paid their respects by raising their wands in this air.

Rickman was indeed one of the most respected and passionate actors in the film industry. I believe that his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of many fans and may he rest in peace.
