邓紫棋（gem）

Many people don’t listen to Chinese Pop Music. Some just think that it is boring and meaningless. However, what if I tell you that there is someone out there, some celebrity that can bring you into the world of chinese music. Well, that person to me is 邓紫棋（dengziqi) whose nickname is commonly known as G.E.M. I have many good reasons why I admire her but I will only state 3 reasons why she is amazing!! 

First, I see her as an inspiration as she started working towards her goal at the age of 16, when she started writing music and composing some, to me, the few most amazing songs. Furthermore, her humor is awesome! I attended  her concert on 1st March this year and she made many jokes eliciting laughs throughout the audience, which I think is something I love about her. For example, she was laughing when a fan at the front of the stage showed her their sign. In return, she said something jokingly, “Singapore fans send me mosquitoes but I am sending you hearts and kisses?”  laughter rippled through the entire stadium!  I was really amazed at her humor as I haven’t gone to any of her concerts before so this was definitely one of the funny memories and moments me and many fans will remember! 

Second, her music carries deep meaning and encouragement for her listeners. She composes and writes most of her songs. Some of the meanings that she conveys in her songs is how we would not be alone in this dark and scary “nightmare” which we can see is this society and life which gives comfort to some of her fans, including me! One example of a song that has such a meaningful message is “让世界暂停一分钟” (translation: one minute) which is one of my personal favourite even though I cannot ever choose a really personal favourite as all her songs are so cool and meaningful in different ways. Another song that I really like is “泡沫“ （translation: bubble)This song is one of Deng Ziqi's famous works, and the song is known for its soulful lyrics and touching melody. It describes a fragile and ephemeral love, expressing helplessness and pain in love. "Bubble" has achieved excellent results on major music charts, and it has also made Deng Ziqi quickly popular in the mainland. Even though these two songs are really new songs, I love them because of the meaning behind them. 

Thirdly, the words that she says live in concerts really inspires people to continue living, enjoying life to its fullest and actually start loving people around them. Some of her songs are on how to love again and to try your best in whatever you do! One of her quotes to us was “你可以忙，可以累，但一定不可以不开心” which also directly translates as “you can be busy, you can be tired, but you definitely must be happy” which means that in things that you do, if you are happy doing it, you will do it even if you are busy, you are tired, no matter what! Personally, hearing these words really inspires me to push on and work towards my goals. Success to people has many meanings so this definitely is one of the quotes that I love with the meaning at the back! 

I still have many reasons on why I really admire her but these are really why you should be a fan of her music and her words can really pull someone out of that dark and deep place! “不听紫棋言，吃亏在眼前” （translation: not listening to dengziqi is losing out on things） That is something I like as a fan of her music and admire her as an inspiration.
