Guy Kawasaki once said, “If you have to put someone on a pedestal, put teachers. They are society’s heroes.” We always have a reason to celebrate our teachers. After two years of relatively muted celebrations, we welcomed the return of in-person performances that showcased the talents of our 姐妹们 as well as the opportunity to bond with our teachers.

When we gathered for morning assembly, we were pleasantly surprised by balloons adorning the front of the hall and bunting that spelled ‘Happy Teachers’ Day’. Following our Principal Mrs Tan’s address and a paraliturgy led by the Chaplaincy team, the emcees announced the next segment: the much awaited student performances! Exuding confidence, the performers took the stage and blew us away with their talent. From energetic K-pop dances to renditions of timeless songs, each performance was met with rousing applause. We appreciated the hard work put in to deliver these memorable acts.

Even after the cheers had died down, the atmosphere was charged with electricity as the game masters took charge of the school-wide Kahoot quiz. Each question, aimed to sieve out those who knew their teachers best, kept us on our toes. We battled it out over teachers’ belongings, catchphrases and even voices before landing the top three winners. It was certainly an enjoyable experience getting to know our teachers outside of the classroom.

After the games, we moved on to the awards ceremony, where we acknowledged our teachers’ hard work and efforts throughout the years. We cheered loudly for our fellow teachers as they were presented with awards from our principal Mrs Tan, such as the Caring Teacher awards, Incredible St Nicks’ Teachers awards, Inspiring English Teacher award and many more. Finishing off with a closing song, ‘I Want It That Way’ by Backstreet Boys, everyone sang their hearts out in a sea of lights emitted from our phones. It was such a heartwarming moment to be able to sing with our 姐妹们 as we celebrated this special day for our teachers.

Finally, it was time for us to bond with our teachers and classmates as we returned to our classrooms. Each class had prepared their own unique class performances to show their gratitude and appreciation towards the teachers. With performances ranging from class skits to singing, we surely dazzled our teachers with our talents. Aside from performing, we also played games with our teachers to form stronger bonds.

Eventually, the celebrations came to a close. As students left the school in succession, our teachers also went home to get the rest that they deserved. Once again, we would like to sincerely thank every teacher for your efforts and time put in to serve the school and to teach us. We are truly grateful for you and we hope that you will continue to guide us in our journey through the rest of our years in the school.
