Now, in the post-pandemic period, the Secondary Twos are finally able to attend the physical AA (Alumnae Association) day camp! Comprising of fun activities and learning journeys, the camp allowed us to visit different industries while fostering deeper bonds with our classmates. There was also a career counseling programme, where our 姐姐们 shared their experiences working in the different industries. Though it was held over zoom, the Secondary Twos still learnt a lot of valuable knowledge from our wonderful 姐姐们!

On the first day, we started off with a growth mindset workshop, which taught us how to overcome our mental barriers and think positively in tough times. The facilitators engaged us in various class bonding activities as well, and it was fantastic – or you could say, we had a “whale of a time”! Next, we had some tasty sandwiches provided by KITH, as well as some canned drinks and chips for our lunch! Lunch was definitely scrumptious!

Soon, it was time to head out. Each class went to nine different locations: HOUSE by Super Farmers, X-inc Pte Ltd, Wah Son Engineering, BEARS, Unpact, Tarte, National Gallery, The Food Bank Singapore and Fuschia Lane. At the many industrial sectors, we learnt mind-blowing knowledge such as Aerospace, Sustainability, and Entrepreneurship! Certainly, it was an enriching and inspiring learning journey — we had numerous takeaways from the tours around these places. Of course, we have to thank our kind and caring guides for leading us around the locations, giving us more insight on the different industries. Our class, 2 Purity, went to Wah Son Engineering, where we learnt more about Engineering and Aerospace. We have to admit, we had a “blast of a time” there!

On the second day, our school invited many 姐姐们 for a career talk where we listened to our alumnae with different backgrounds share their experiences in the workforce with us. We heard from Yvonne Chow 姐姐 from A*STAR, Su Ling 姐姐 from Pupsik, Yu Yah Leng 姐姐 from Foreign Policy Design Group, and so many more! There were many interesting stories from the different sectors, which ranged from Arts & Language to Positive Psychology. And we have to say, it was quite interesting to learn that even though our 姐姐们 started off with not knowing what their dreams or aspirations were, they managed to become full-fledged businesswomen who truly enjoy their jobs! It was really enriching — we were inspired by our 姐姐们’s life stories to strive for the best!

Of course, all good things must come to an end. This AA Camp gave us an extremely memorable time, and we definitely gained more understanding of the various industries! We would like to thank the Alumni Association, teachers, and facilitators for all the hard work and effort they put into organizing and helping out in this successful event! Us, Secondary Twos, will forever be grateful for this opportunity to learn more about industries we never knew much about before. Once again, 谢谢姐姐们!
